Year 10 – Levuka Trip
The Year 10 consisting of 9 students and 3 accompanying teachers travelled to Levuka. After the Students had done some research on the damage that was done during Cyclone Winston, it was the old capital, Levuka that the students decided to visit.
Upon Arriving at Natovi Jetty, they travelled further to Buresala Jetty. From there they travelled even further to Tokou Village to a little School called Loreto Primary School. The Students cleaned up the classroom, painted the walls with some creative art. They even built a reading corner finished it with tiles to give it a completely new look. There were alot of damaged broken louvre blades which the students replaced as well. It was an eye opener for the students where they spent time cooking their own food and even had talanoa sessions with the villagers and heard stories on how they usually survive during and after a cyclone.
It was a great learning experience for the students and teachers.
